Cleaner air is part of the world we’re building

May 31, 2023

Many of the things that matter to you move through the Port of Vancouver. And it matters that we continue to preserve the environment around us.

As a port authority, we’re responsible for enabling Canada’s trade through the Port of Vancouver, while protecting the environment and considering local communities.

That’s why we encourage shipping lines to use cleaner fuels and technologies like hybrid engines and shore power through our EcoAction Program. We then recognize shipping lines that have the highest participation in the EcoAction Program, by awarding Blue Circle Awards for outstanding efforts to reduce emissions and protect the environment.

It’s just one of the ways we’re working to phase out port-related emissions that affect air quality and climate change. Because it all matters.
