Maplewood Marine Restoration Project
Located on the north shore of Burrard Inlet, south of a wildlife conservation area, we restored nearshore habitat, creating a tidal flat, an eelgrass bed and a rock reef.
Many of the things that make your habitat a home move through the Port of Vancouver. But they shouldn’t come at the expense of natural habitats. That’s why we created the Habitat Enhancement Program.
Together with project partners such as the Vancouver Park Board and Indigenous nations such as Musqueam Indian Band, Squamish Nation and Tsleil-Waututh Nation, we’ve restored over 37 acres of shoreline habitat that support a wide variety of fish and wildlife. It’s one way we help maintain a balance between a healthy environment and port activities.
