Vancouver Fraser Port Authority | Mooring Bollard Installation

February 28, 2024

Project status
Permit issued

In February 2024, Vancouver Fraser Port Authority submitted a project permit application to develop Mooring bollard installation, at 999 Canada Place, Vancouver, British Columbia on federal lands and waters managed by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority.

The project was approved subject to 29 permit conditions applicant must meet to ensure the project does not result in significant adverse environmental effects. Please see the Impact Assessment Act Registry for the Notice of Intent and Notice of Decision.

About the project

The Applicant proposes the installation of one new mooring bollard on the North Berth at Canada Place to prevent vessels from drifting. The new mooring bollard will have a footprint of approximately 1 metres by 1 metres and a depth of 1 metres. The bollard would require the removal of surface concrete and asphalt. The new mooring bollard may also require the installation of steel anchor bolts to secure the mooring bollards to the underside of the existing concrete deck. This would be completed by drilling or coring through the concrete deck, which would require limited work from a marine derrick or small scow to access and prepare the underside of the concrete deck.
