Permit application under review

In December 2023, International Forest Products Limited submitted a project permit application to remove debris at a former sawmill. The proposed project is located at 20580 Maple Crescent, Maple Ridge, British Columbia on federal lands managed by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority.

As part of the Project and Environmental Review  for the proposed project under the Impact Assessment Act, the proposed project was posted on the Canadian Impact Assessment Registry with an opportunity for public comment between December 27, 2023 and January 25, 2024. The port authority will conduct formal consultation activities with stakeholders and Indigenous groups.

About the project

International Forest Products Limited proposes to remove debris at the site. The proposed works include removal of: 

  • concrete lock blocks
  • concrete no-post barriers (commonly used on roadways)
  • piles of sandbags
  • wooden pallets
  • plastic liner & plastic debris
  • lumber scraps
  • concrete pads at PECO lift and Eastern Conveyor area
  • anthropogenic debris (wires/cables)
