Imperial Oil | ​Marine gas oil piping modification

Permit issued

On August 31, 2023 a project permit was issued to Imperial Oil to modify their existing marine gas oil (MGO) piping system. The project located at 2225 Ioco Road, Port Moody BC on federal lands managed by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority.

The project was approved subject to 27 number permit conditions the applicant must meet to ensure the project does not result in significant adverse environmental effects. Please see the Impact Assessment Act Registry for the Notice of Intent and Notice of Decision.

About the project

Imperial Oil is proposing modifications to their existing marine gas oil (MGO) piping system on their dock to debottleneck the piping system and increase MGO flow rates at their Ioco terminal. The project includes: 

  • Installation of approximately 60 metres of new piping
  • Installation of piping supports and anchor bolted to the concrete dock  
  • Installation of flow meters, control valves, and a motor operated valve  
  • Relocation of the existing ship loader connections for MGO 

Installation of the new equipment would be completed from the dock using a pipe dolly lifting device, spider cranes, and handheld power tools.
