Notice of amendment to Port Information Guide

The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority has issued a notice of amendment, dated December 1, 2023, to inform members of the public, industry and other stakeholders of proposed updates to the Port Information Guide.

The Port Information Guide outlines practices and procedures applicable to all ships operating within defined vessel operating areas in the port authority’s jurisdiction to support the safe and efficient movement of trade. From time to time, the port authority makes amendments to the guide, in accordance with Section 56 of the Canada Marine Act.

The port authority has made the following amendments, effective December 1, 2023, to the Port Information Guide for the Port of Vancouver:

  • The addition of new and refreshed definitions
  • Introduction of LNG Bunker Accreditation Program
  • Addition of the Terminal Data Sheet for the new Vancouver Airport Fuel Facilities Corporation (VAFFC) South Fraser Terminal
  • Refresh the “Assist tugs” and “Escort tugs” terminology throughout the document to provide consistency and clarity
  • Refresh the terminology used in “TCZ-4 Pilotage Requirements”
  • Addition of Clear Transit Area Coordinates in “TCZ-4 Restrictions – Clear Transit Areas”
  • Refresh the Port Information Guide with general updates not affecting intent or application

Timeline for comments and questions

Comments regarding these amendments can be made in writing and should be directed to the attention of ‘marine operations specialist’ at [email protected] by January 15, 2024.

To accommodate the holiday period, the comment period has been extended by 15 days and the amendment will be posted for a 45-day comment period. All comments received will be taken into consideration before the proposed amendments are implemented.
