Special examination reports sound operational practices by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority

December 20, 2022

Vancouver, B.C.: The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority recently underwent a special examination performed by its external auditor, as required by the Canada Marine Act (section 41).

The examination evaluates operational practices and processes, and assesses whether systems and practices provide reasonable assurance that the organization’s assets are safeguarded and controlled; financial, human and physical resources are managed economically and efficiently; and operations are carried out effectively.

The special examination was conducted by Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC) for the period of January 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022, and focused on corporate governance and risk management, IT and cyber security, land use planning including lease management, and port operations.

Results showed there were no significant deficiencies in the books, records, systems and practices related to the focus areas examined. The results of the special examination validated the port authority’s robust management practices.
