Port of Vancouver operations update

To Port of Vancouver’s valued customers and stakeholders:

On Thursday, July 27, and Friday, July 28, International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) Canada membership will vote on the tentative agreement reached with the British Columbia Maritime Employers Association (BCMEA). Regular operations will continue while voting takes place.

Auto sector:

Regular operations in effect.

Breakbulk sector:

Regular operations in effect.

Bulk sector:

Regular operations in effect.

Container sector:

Regular operations in effect. As of July 26, four container vessels are at berth, three are at anchor, and three are awaiting entry into the port’s jurisdiction. Cruise sector:

Regular operations in effect.

Marine operations:  The port authority continues to manage vessel arrivals and anchorage assignments to maintain port fluidity, ensure the safe movement of vessels and manage anchorage capacity for terminals.

Port of Vancouver anchorage occupation (July 26, 2023 – 0600 am PST):

  • Vancouver Fraser Port Authority (English Bay, inner habour, Indian Arm):  30%
  • Southern Gulf Islands:  37%

Vessels in port can be viewed on the home page of the PortVan eHub app by selecting “Vessels in Port” via the port authority’s mobile app. Download from the port authority’s website (eHub) or through the App Store (search for “PortVan eHub” or “Port of Vancouver”).

Rail operations:  Please contact your railway directly for specific details regarding embargoed cargo, empties and destinations.

    • Jul 24 = 53,379 ft
    • Jul 23 = 68,262 ft

    • Jul 20 = 8,698 ft
  • Container import on-dock footage: 377,954 ft
