Port of Vancouver operations update

To Port of Vancouver’s valued customers and stakeholders,

The International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) Canada served a 72-hour strike notice against the British Columbia Maritime Employers Association (BCMEA) at 8:00 a.m. PST, Wednesday, June 28, 2023. The notice enables legal strike action to commence effective 8:00 a.m. PST, Saturday, July 1, 2023.

This strike notice and potential strike action will not impact employees required to service grain vessels in accordance with Section 87.7 (1) of the Canada Labour Code.

The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is responsible for maintaining the safe and efficient movement of marine traffic within the shared waterways at the Port of Vancouver. This includes monitoring vessel arrivals and anchorage use and supporting the safe movement of vessels.
