We work with Vancouver-based social enterprise Climate Smart to provide a training and certification program that supports work by our tenants to measure and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, complementing their existing efforts.
The initiative facilitates a port-focused peer group to share knowledge and practices for minimizing emissions, waste and costs, with the port authority funding 50 per cent of its tenants’ cost to participate.
To-date, 24 unique tenants have gone through the training and certification program, many of them renewing year after year. In total, this partnership has resulted in cumulative greenhouse gas emission reductions of 6,087 tonnes.
