Vancouver Fraser Port Authority announces retirement of vice president, real estate, Tom Corsie, appointment of Jennifer Natland

The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority today announces the retirement of Tom Corsie, vice president, real estate, after a remarkable 43-year progressive career. Tom’s last day at the port authority will be April 28.

Tom first joined the organization in 1980 as a relief master on the Fraser River patrol boat. In 1982, Captain Corsie was appointed operations supervisor, before becoming assistant harbour master, operations in 1986, manager of operations in 1989, and director, property development in 1991. Tom was promoted to vice president, property development in 1999, vice president, infrastructure development in 2008 and has been in his current role as vice president, real estate since 2009.

Throughout his tenure, Tom has had a profoundly positive impact in growing, developing and managing the port authority’s land base to enable Canada’s trade through the Port of Vancouver. Some of Tom’s most significant achievements include leading the acquisition of more than 565 acres of land, advocating for the protection of industrial land, and managing the iconic Canada Place.

As Tom leaves the port authority at the end of the month, Jennifer Natland will step into the position of vice president, real estate as well as president, Canada Place Corporation, effective April 24. Jennifer, who currently holds the position of director, corporate strategic planning at the port authority, has over 15 years of experience in real estate and planning at the organization, including in an acting role of vice president, real estate in 2021.

Jennifer holds a bachelor of arts degree in urban geography, a master of urban studies, and a master of business administration, all from Simon Fraser University. She currently serves as chair of the board of directors for the Immigrant Services Society of British Columbia and has previously served on the executive committee of the Vancouver chapter of LAI, an international land economics society, and as a commissioner and co-chair of the Vancouver City Planning Commission.
