WWL Underground Storage Tank Removal Annacis Island

Permit issued

In December 2019, a project permit was issued to Wallenius Wilhelmsen Solutions Vehicle Services Canada Ltd. (the Applicant), to proposes to decommission a fueling facility at 100-820 Dock Road, Annacis Island, Delta, British Columbia, on federal lands managed by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority.

The project was approved subject to 43 permit conditions that Wallenius Wilhelmsen Solutions Vehicle Services Canada Ltd. must meet to ensure the project does not result in significant adverse environmental effects.

About the project

The proposed works include the excavation; onsite stockpiling of suspect overburden for analytical testing; and the removal and disposal of three underground storage tanks, impacted water, fuel and overburden at an appropriately licensed facility. The tankhold will be backfilled with clean material and aggregate and the ground surface will be restored to its previous condition.
