Richardson International | New Hopper Bin Project

Permit issued
On August 15, 2013, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority issued a project permit (PP 2013-078) to Richardson International to construct a new Hopper Bin (Pellet Bin 6) for grain pellet storage at 375 Low Level Road, North Vancouver. Richardson International facilities are under lease with the port authority, and are located on the north shore of Burrard Inlet in Vancouver. The project permit, including conditions is available below.
About the project
The new hopper bin was installed to store overflow grain pellets and/or grain screenings. The bin will be fed by existing and the new conveyance system being installed as part of Richardson’s approved Grain Storage Capacity Project. Specific construction activities included:
- installing a smooth wall hopper bottom bin approximately 21 m (70 ft) tall and 6m (20 ft) wide on the south side of the existing elevator workhouse
- installing four, 30-inch-diameter steel pipe piles driven by a vibratory hammer
- installing a bin stand constructed of concrete and reinforced steel pile cap and structural steel stand
- installing a covered and enclosed spout and screw auger
