Permit issued
On April 15, 2013, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority issued a project permit (PP 2012-099) to Richardson International for the Grain Storage Capacity Project. The project involves the construction of two 40,000 metric tonne concrete storage annexes at 375 Low Level Road in North Vancouver. The project permit, including conditions is available below.
About the project
Richardson International’s Grain Storage Capacity Project included the construction of two slip form concrete annexes at the east end of the existing facility, as well as the installation of conveyors and automatic dust filter systems. Specific construction activities included:
- demolition of three existing pellet storage bins (10,000 metric tonnes total capacity)
- installing approximately 494 open ended steel wall piles, and 315 timber piles
- constructing two 40,000 metric tonne concrete storage annexes approximately 54 m high (176 ft) and a total length of 172 m (565 ft)
- upgrading and installing new dust filter systems within existing workhouse
- constructing covered silo roof distribution conveyors and support towers
- installing a new motor control centre room on annex roof
- widening and upgrading existing south access road
- reconfiguring rail infrastructure
- installing mechanical and electrical systems
- relocating existing utilities and installing new utilities
- installing noise mitigation measures
