New Pile Installation for Recreational Dock

Permit issued

In October 2021, a project permit was issued to the upland property owner to conduct maintenance and repair works to an existing recreational dock. The dock is located in Burrard Inlet at 4505 Belcarra Bay Road, Village of Belcarra, British Columbia, on lands managed by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority.

The project was approved subject to 31 permit conditions that the upland owner must meet to ensure the project does not result in significant adverse environmental effects.

About the project

Blue Water Systems on behalf of the upland property owner proposes to conduct maintenance and repair works to an existing recreational dock located in Burrard Inlet at 4505 Belcarra Bay Road, Village of Belcarra. The proposed works include the installation of two steel piles to support and secure the existing float. The dock is currently anchored to the seabed by chains and anchors, which will be removed following the installation of new support piles. The piles are anticipated to be installed by barge and crane and driven by vibratory and/or drop hammer.
