Neptune Terminal | Maintenance dredging at Berth 2 and 3
Project status
Permit issued
In August 2020, a project permit was issued to Neptune Bulk Terminals (Canada) Ltd. (Neptune) to conduct maintenance dredging at Berth 2 and 3 of its terminal located at 1001 Low Level Road in North Vancouver, British Columbia on federal lands managed by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority.
The project was approved subject to 36 permit conditions that Neptune must meet to ensure the project does not result in significant adverse environmental effects.
Dredging is anticipated to be undertaken in late 2021, within the least risk window for Burrard Inlet.
About the project
Neptune Bulk Terminals (Canada) Ltd. will conduct maintenance dredging at Berth 2 and 3 of its terminal in North Vancouver. The purpose of the project is to dredge and remove accumulated sediment to achieve appropriate vessel clearance at the berth. The scope of works includes dredging of approximately 18 cubic metres of sediment at both Berth 2 and 3. Dredging is proposed to be completed by clamshell environmental bucket to mitigate increased turbidity. Dredge material will be disposed of at an appropriate upland facility.
Dredging will be completed within the term of the permit, and within least risk fish window for Burrard Inlet.
