Existing Dock Upgrade for 4659 Strathcona
Project status
Permit issued
In September 2021, a project permit was issued to Kingfisher Docks on behalf of the upland owner to undertake upgrades to an existing recreational dock located at 4659 Strathcona Road, North Vancouver, British Columbia on federal lands managed by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority.
The project was approved subject to 42 permit conditions that Kingfisher Docks and the upland owner must meet to ensure the project does not result in significant adverse environmental effects.
About the project
Kingfisher Docks on behalf of the upland property owner proposes to upgrade an existing recreational dock located in Burrard Inlet at 4659 Strathcona Road, North Vancouver. The upgrade is required as the existing dock is in disrepair and the pier and float rest on the foreshore and seabed. Existing creosote piles and wooden dock will be removed and replaced with concrete columns and an aluminum dock structure. It is anticipated that five creosote piles will be removed and disposed of and replaced with two concrete columns to support the new aluminum dock. The dock footprint will be relocated to be central to the waterlot and will be designed to provide float clearance to the seabed and allow for public access along the shoreline. During construction, the prefabricated columns and aluminum dock sections will be installed by crane.
