Opinion: Trade agreements have direct impact on our port city

Robin Silvester, president and chief executive officer of the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, discusses the anticipated increase in trade for Canada as a result of the new Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for the Trans-Pacific Partnership, and how the port authority will manage that growth in the densely populated Lower Mainland. Silvester discusses how despite upgrades to existing terminals, independent forecasts show it still won’t be enough to manage Canada’s future trade demand, prompting the need for a new container terminal on the West Coast and the potential Roberts Bank Terminal 2 project.
