The Port of Vancouver’s recent half-yearly stats confirm that while some export commodities are down and some are flat, others, like barley and canola, are up. In Canada’s resource-driven economy, this diversification is key to our national prosperity.
“Port of Vancouver is the most diversified port in North America, an artery that brings economic life to the whole nation,” writes Stewart Muir, the executive director of Vancouver-based Resource Works Society. “Luckily for us, its sheer scale offers protection from the ups and downs of any one product or industry.” Read more.
