Alliance Grain Terminal Limited | Gallery Replacement Project

Permit issued

On March 17, 2014, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority issued a project permit (PP 2013-125) to Alliance Grain Terminal Ltd for the replacement of their existing conveyor gallery which loads ships. Alliance Grain Terminal Ltd. facilities are under lease with the port authority, and are located on the south shore of Burrard Inlet in Vancouver. The project permit, including conditions, is available below.

About the project

The conveyor gallery replacement included decommissioning and removing of the current gallery and replacing with a new gallery. Specific construction activities included:

  • demolition of the existing gallery following the commissioning of the new system
  • installing approximately 30 new piles next to existing piles
  • new foundations for the new gallery above the existing pier structure
  • four (4) loading towers erected along the length of the wharf, each equipped with two (2) loading spouts, on either side
  • installing a new conveyor gallery, approximately 16 m higher than the existing gallery and extending 37 m further north than the existing gallery
