Nanaimo Vancouver Passenger Only Ferry Service South SeaBus Terminal
Permit amendment – under review
In February 2020, TransLink (the Applicant), submitted an amendment to a project permit No. 18-044. The amendment would extend the permit (which is due to expire February 28, 2020) to December 31, 2020. This extension will allow the Applicant to carry out physical activities related to the completion of project due to scheduling delays.
As part of the Project and Environmental Review for the proposed project under the Impact Assessment Act, the proposed project is posted on the Canadian Impact Assessment Registry here with an opportunity for public comment between February 14, 2020 to March 14, 2020.
About the proposed amendment:
The Permit Holder proposes to carry out physical activities related to the completion of the Nanaimo Vancouver Passenger Only Ferry Service at the South SeaBus Terminal up until December 31, 2020. This would require an extension to the approved project permit (PER No. 18-044-01), which has an expiry date of February 28, 2020.
The extension is being requested as a result of project scheduling delays. The scope of works that would be completed during the extended period remains unchanged and includes the installation of two replacement fenders, a replacement passenger ramp, a replacement potable water supply line, modifications to emergency exit doors to facilitate access to the new ramp, and refurbishment of a storage area for use as a passenger waiting lounge.
