To Port of Vancouver’s valued customers and stakeholders:
The Canada Industrial Relations Board has issued an interim order, effective today, Thursday, November 14, directing an end to the work stoppage between BC Maritime Employers Association and International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 514. As such, west coast ports are set to resume operations. Timelines for resumption of operations are subject to individual terminals.
The port authority will support all stakeholders through the recovery process. We commit to managing the backlog of ships waiting to berth and will continue to implement a priority-based anchorage allocation system to balance the needs of all business sectors and commodities. We are communicating with terminal operators to confirm anticipated berthing schedules for arriving vessels to manage limited anchorage capacity.
Marine operations
All anchorage class assignments are experiencing heightened demand, and availability in both port jurisdiction and the Southern Gulf Islands is limited.
