Effective January 1, 2025, please be advised that all additions, replacements, and returning trucks to any TLS fleet must meet the new minimum entrance requirement of a 2018 truck, with compliant equipment or original equipment manufacturer (OEM) factory installed emissions components. All TLS trucks continue to be subject to periodic inspections.
The drayage sector—made up of independent operators, their representatives, trucking companies and salaried drivers—are vital stakeholders in the success of the Western Canadian supply chain. We acknowledge and thank all in the drayage sector for partnering with us to reduce emissions to achieve our vision.
All container trucking companies and their trucks desiring to serve the port’s marine container terminals must meet certain criteria to be eligible for an Access Agreement under the Truck Licensing System (TLS) to gain access to federally owned port property. Criteria includes minimum truck age for new entrants to help mitigate trucking impacts on the environment and local communities, while also supporting driver safety and efficient goods movement.
Please note that existing TLS trucks will not be affected at this time; however, we strongly recommend familiarizing yourself with the new requirements as part of your future planning.
If you have any questions about this upcoming change, please feel free to contact the TLS Program Administration team at [email protected].
Thank you for your attention to this important notice.
Sincerely,
Andy Sekhon
