Upcoming lane closures and vegetation management activities
To prepare for upcoming construction on the Holdom Overpass Project, crews will be carrying out a series of early works from November 12 to 15, 2024. Activities include confirming the location of underground utilities, soil sampling, and pavement coring. As a result, there will be traffic impacts at various locations in the area due to daytime lane closures and single lane alternating traffic in the evening. Crews will not be working at all locations at the same time.
In addition, vegetation management activities will be taking place at various locations, including the Central Valley Greenway, to ensure that there is sufficient space for construction to take place. This includes tree clearing, brush removal, and Japanese Knotweed removal. Activities are anticipated to take place between mid-November and mid-December 2024. Trees to be removed will be flagged in advance of clearing. We recognize the importance of trees to the local community and First Nations, and are making every effort to minimize tree removal as much as possible. As part of the project's restoration and habitat enhancement work, we will be replanting trees to replace those removed once construction is complete.
We thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

About the Holdom Overpass Project
The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is delivering the Holdom Overpass Project in partnership with the City of Burnaby, CN, and the Government of Canada. The new four-lane overpass will extend Holdom Avenue south, over the rail corridor and Still Creek, connecting it with Douglas Road. Once complete, the Holdom Overpass will replace the Douglas Road rail crossing. As a result, there will be improved safety and connections for the Burnaby community, improved emergency response, and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
As part of the Burnaby Rail Corridor Improvements Project, the Holdom Overpass will also increase transportation efficiency and trade capacity through the port terminals on the North Shore. The Aecon-Gateway Infrastructure Group Partnership is the Design-Build Contractor for the Holdom Overpass Project.
