Environmental legislation and regulation

As a Canada Port Authority, we’re mandated under the Canada Marine Act to contribute to the competitiveness, growth and prosperity of the Canadian economy, while protecting the environment and considering local communities. We protect our environment by implementing programs and following guidelines to manage and reduce the effects of port operations on the natural environment in and around the port.

Port-related operations must comply with the Canada Marine Act, Port Authorities Operations Regulations, established environmental legislation and regulatory requirements and supporting guidelines. These include but are not limited to:
