Q. Which cruise lines offer services out of Vancouver?

A. During the 2006 season, the following cruise lines offer sailings from Vancouver. For a list of the vessels visit the Cruise Schedule.

Q. How do I book a cruise?

A. Please contact your local travel agent.

Q. Can you recommend a hotel to stay in near my cruise terminal?

A. Cruise passengers may visit Tourism Vancouver’s web site for an overview of accommodations.

Q. Where can I find information on attractions, shopping and dining in Vancouver?

A. The best source of information is available on Tourism Vancouver’s web site. During the cruise season from May to September, you may also visit a TouristInfo Centre at Canada Place or Ballantyne cruise terminals. You may also contact them at the Tourism Vancouver InfoCentre: 604-683-2000

Q. What documentation to I require to enter Canada?

A. Canadian and U.S. citizens must show proper proof of citizenship to Canada Border Services Agency officers, including:

1) Passport, or
2) Government-issued photo ID and original copy of birth certificate.

All other passengers must show passport and, if required, other documents (example, Visa). For more information, contact your cruise line or Canada Border Services agency.

Q. What documentation to I require to enter the U.S.?

As of January 31, 2008, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers will no longer accept oral declarations of U.S. or Canadian citizenship from those traveling by land or sea.

These travelers will be required to present:
1) Passport, or
2) Government-issued photo ID and original copy of birth certificate or other proof of citizenship, or
3)Birth certificate alone (for youth 18 and under).

All other passengers must show passport and, if required, other documents (example, Visa).

Q. How do I get from the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Canada Place Cruise Terminal or Ballantyne Terminal?

A. Canada Place is located downtown at 999 Canada Place. Ballantyne is located at 655 Centennial Road, east of the city centre and close to Canada Place.  The cost of a taxi cab is approximately $30.00 (Can).  Travellers to Ballantyne have access to Ballantyne Cruise Terminal via Clark Drive or McGill Street Overpass only. There is no access to travellers via Victoria Drive and Heatley Avenue. It takes about 30 minutes to get to the cruise terminals from YVR.  Download the YVR to Port of Vancouver Map (PDF 249KB) for more information.

Q. Can I rent a car at the cruise terminals?

A.  Rental car kiosks are only available at Canada Place. They include:Avis, Budget and National.

There are no rental car kiosks at Ballantyne. Passengers need to pre-arrange pick-up or drop-off with the rental company in advance.

Q. Where can I park my car?

A.  There is both short-term and long-term parking available.

Short-Term Parking Facilities (1-2 days)

Both Canada Place and Ballantyne have plenty of short-term parking available for picking up and dropping off of cruise passengers.

Long-term Parking Facilities (a week or more)

CruisePark offers off-site long term parking for passengers sailing out of both Canada Place and Ballantyne. This service provides shuttle service to both Canada Place and Ballantyne.

Q. What type of transportation services are available to and from the cruise terminals?

A.  By Air - The Vancouver International Airport, (YVR), services more than 20 major international and regional air carriers. The city centre is approximately 30 minutes from the airport. Taxis and limousines are readily available. There is also a regular shuttle bus service by Vancouver Shuttle.

By Bus or Car - Regular bus service from Vancouver's city centre to Seattle's SeaTac airport is available via shuttle buses. It takes 3 hours to drive from Seattle to Vancouver, and both cities offer a wide variety of car rental companies.

Q. Is there a bus depot/train station near the terminals?

Yes. There is a station located at Main Street & Terminal Ave Pacific Central Station in Vancouver. For more information contact tel: 604-640-3764

Q. Can I store my luggage at the cruise terminals?

Short-term luggage storage is available at Canada Place terminal. CDS Baggage provides storage services at Canada Place. Tel: 604.303.4500. (Hours of operation – 8:00am – 4:00pm on cruise ship days)

Q. Can I rent a scooter or wheelchair at the cruise terminals?

Last minute Scooter/Wheelchair rental is available from Care Vacations in the main lobby of Canada Place. Prior arrangements for either terminal may also be made by calling 1-877-478-7827.

Q. Are there any foreign exchange services at the cruise terminals?

There is a foreign exchange service located in the Pan Pacific Hotel Lobby at Canada Place, one floor above the cruise terminal. Other exchange services can be found throughout Downtown Vancouver.

Q. What other passenger services are available at the cruise terminals?

Canada Place Terminal

There is a food court in the lower level of Waterfront Centre Food court located in Waterfront Centre – adjacent to Canada Place.

MTR Western's Sightlight Tours, M&M Cruise (binocular sales), Habano Cigars, International News and snack/coffee service.

Ballantyne Terminal

Streamers (snack bar), MTR Western's Sightlight Tours and M&M Cruise (binocular sales). Public pay phones available.

Taxi pickup and drop off available.

Q. Is there a Lost & Found office I can contact?

You may contact Canada Place Security office at tel: 604-665-9347.  For items lost on the ship, you may contact the ship’s passenger agent.

Q. Do freighter cruises sail from Vancouver?

A.  Freighter cruises do not sail out of Vancouver.

Q. How do I deliver foods and other packages to the ships?

A. You must contact the ship’s passenger agent to make those arrangements.
