East Vancouver Port Lands Study

The EVPL Plan is the result of a joint planning effort between the Burrardview Community Association, the City of Vancouver, CP Rail, Vancouver Port Authority and other port stakeholders. On May 31, 2007, The Vancouver Port Authority adopted the EVPL Plan as an addendum to PortPlan: A Land Use Plan for the Port of Vancouver. City of Vancouver Council adopted the Plan on April 19, 2007. The Burrardview Community Association unanimously endorsed the Plan at their meeting on February 21, 2007.

The plan addresses a number of issues, including noise, views, and air quality, and will guide future land use decisions in the area. The Plan strives to ensure that the Port can accommodate future growth and development while respecting the livability needs of the adjacent residential areas. Plan highlights include:

  • Policies and actions to address the key issues.
  • Land use guidelines that indicate whether a proposed land use will be supported.
  • A development approval process that includes earlier and more thorough consultation with affected groups.
  • mechanism that enables the City, the Port and neighbouring residents to continue to work together to address issues of mutual concern.
