Community Investment Program

Programs

Pacific Salmon Foundation
The Vancouver Port Authority is delighted to be a sponsor of the Pacific Salmon Foundation and, in support of the Fraser Salmon and Watersheds Program, the Think Salmon Program.  The five-year agreement, worth $250,000, focuses on Pacific salmon conservation and education.

One of the exciting projects linked to VPA's sponsorship is the supply of 250 Think Salmon Streamkeeper Kits to elementary and secondary schools free of charge. The kits contain enough supplies to equip a class of 30 students for an entire field season and will teach them about BC's valuable freshwater resources and impacts on water.

Other interesting projects include the printing of 10,000 posters detailing the migration route of Pacific salmon, VPA staff featured in SalmonCasts, and a speaker series. Stay tuned for details regarding additional Think Salmon programming.

The funding announcement was made March 20 at the Launch of Think Salmon and Fraser Salmon & Watersheds Program. Click here for photos taken at the launch.

Vancouver Maritime Museum
The VPA is a long-time supporter of the Vancouver Maritime Museum– the principal maritime museum on the Pacific Coast of Canada. The Museum interprets the history of our great Pacific port and it’s link with the Pacific Rim through exhibits, educational programs and special events.
